Come and breathe the fresh air in Morvan Regional Nature park, only 2 hours from Paris. Our Camping de Saulieu campsite is located in this area known as French Canada! A change of scenery is guaranteed with the huge granite mountains, magical forests, great wild lakes and enchanting valleys. Just let the magic work its wonders…
If there is one event you should not miss, it is the Gourmet Days in Saulieu that are held in May. But if you are there at any other time of the year, make sure you get a taste of the famous Morvan honey, wild blueberries and the typical local dishes!
If you are a thrill-seeker, make sure you visit the many mountain bike trails and rafting experiences! There are no less than 6 large lakes, each with its own special attraction. The calm waters of Pannecière Lake will appeal to all anglers! Families looking for water activities, bathing sites and other tourist activities should head for Settons Lake, whereas anyone seeking whitewater can travel down the rapids near Chaumeçon Lake. You will also be amazed by the beauty of the Saut de Gouloux heritage site and Narvau Gorges.
Don’t forget to spare some time to wander around the streets in perched villages such as Vézelay, to admire the ramparts in Avallon, or visit the legendary Bazoches Chateau. Many museums are also worth the visit, such as Saboterie Marchand in Gouloux (for wood products), the House of Wine and Cooperage in Ouroux-en-Morvan, or the eco-museum dedicated to the history of the Resistance effort in Morvan.
The Bibracte archeology site on Mount Beuvray has a breath-taking view over Morvan. It is the largest archeology site dedicated to Celtic civilisation. Come and admire genuine collections from past excavations and take part in workshops for all the family. Take a step back in history and awaken your senses during the Gallic Days… Our Camping d'Autun campsite is only 25km away.
