Our Camping de Collonges-la-Rouge campsite has chosen its location within one of the ‘Most Beautiful Villages in France’. This delightful small village is one of the jewels of the Dordogne Valley in Corrèze; the red sandstone hides a wealth of treasures for you to discover as you stroll through the medieval streets with castles and fortified towers! The change of scenery is immediate and you will find yourself in a world of flamboyant red as you wander among the traditional shops, bars and restaurants. The area is also excellent for hiking as Collonges-la-Rouge is a stage on Rocamadour Way, a path that is well known to pilgrims on their way to Compostelle.
Get on board for a trip in time that will take you to discover exceptional sites and beautiful nature spots. Climb up to the perched sacred town of Rocamadour, then continue towards the unmissable Padirac Chasm, where you can sail along in a small boat as you admire the beauty of the water and the rocky heights. In the surrounding area, you can explore the many medieval villages classed as some of the ‘Most Beautiful Villages in France’ and famous chateaux such as Castelnaud Castle, which is a real medieval fortress.
The Dordogne Valley has magnificent countryside that is great for many nature activities: trips in a traditional flat-bottomed boat, canoe-kayaking, hiking, river bathing, etc. You are spoilt for choice, whether you are there on a family holiday or for sport!
